ESG

Creating a better, more sustainable tomorrow isn’t just a talking point at Longfellow, it inspires our day-to-day decisions and projects from the ground up.

Our Commitment

After establishing an ESG Task Force in 2021 to advance the firm’s focus on integrating sustainability across its development portfolio, Longfellow created a new leadership role, focused solely on the firm’s ESG efforts.

“We are incredibly proud to communicate our goals publicly – each of our focus areas are supported by distinct targets and actions to achieve them,” said Lauren Ballou, Associate Director of ESG. “After establishing our ESG Task Force nearly two years ago, this collaborative team has worked hard to double down on Longfellow’s sustainable mindset for future growth that is good for our partners, our communities, and our environment.”

Our Partners

Over the past several years, we’ve developed key initiatives such as Longfellow Advance, our nationwide DEI steering committee, and Longfellow LIFTS, our corporate giving initiative. This year, a key goal is increasing our annual volunteer hours from 200 to 400. Longfellow is always proud to support organizations in each of our markets that give back to the community by improving social and environmental issues. A few organizations that we have dedicated time to include Habitat for Humanity in North Carolina, Feeding San Diego and SANDAG in Southern California, and the Pacific Beach Coalition in Northern California.

Longfellow has been a member of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Greenprint Community of Practice since 2022, joining the global alliance of more than 125 leading real estate owners, developers, and investors that are committed to improving the environmental performance of the global real estate industry.

Our Team

Longfellow’s core ESG team is responsible for establishing and implementing our ESG Strategy alongside our interdisciplinary ESG Task Force. The ESG Task Force is also responsible for the successful implementation of our ESG Strategy within their respective verticals.

In addition, Longfellow has regional Green Teams to improve sustainability practices within our offices. Members of the Green Team are passionate about advocating for environmental and social responsibility in every market of the Longfellow portfolio.
