Senior Manager of Environmental, Health and Safety and FacilitiesDuring an unpreceded increase in electrical demand, Smart Wires serves customers across Europe, the United States, Latin America and Australia by unlocking extra capacity and solving complex grid challenges. Our team of experts interacts globally with electrical providers directly from our headquarters in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina.
Longfellow’s Newcastle property is the perfect location for Smart Wires to establish a site featuring high-end offices and an advanced dry lab. As a real estate developer and property manager, Longfellow was the ideal collaborator to help our company build a headquarters where innovative, modular and quickly deployable solutions for our customers are generated in a genuine R&D space. The onsite dry lab needs were specific, where prototyping, training, high current testing and warehousing were needed under one roof. Even with an aggressive build out timeline, Longfellow was the partner that was not only qualified, but passionate enough to match the energy that the project required.
It was and continues to be a success. Whether it was upgrading an existing transformer or amending exterior support, Longfellow operated as one with our design team to develop a product individual to Smart Wires. As our grid enhancing technology expands to improve the electrical reliance for people worldwide, our company is assured that Longfellow continues to support us by meeting our real estate needs.

CSO and FounderWhen I was a child, my grandfather suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. That experience formed my dream to one day find a cure. To increase my odds of success, I launched Satomic to focus on automating chemistry in the “make” part of the DMTA (Design–Make–Test–Analyze) cycle. We are building a platform that helps drug companies make the molecules they design, or that AI designs, faster, more reliably, and at a scale that transforms the pace of discovery.
From their world class support and professionalism, the Longfellow team is a pure joy to work with at every interaction. From the lab and breakroom to the onsite amenities, this space is designed for us to thrive. The electrical load, fume hoods and benches give us one heck of a lab space to innovate from. The gym, taco restaurant, coffee shop, brewery and patio are perfectly appointed with amazing food, drinks and spaces to enjoy. More importantly, Longfellow has established a community of people that exude joy, which reflects the high quality of businesses that partner with Longfellow.
The team at Longfellow are people first and took the time to get to know myself and my team. The Longfellow spirit inspires me to grow my company so I can take even more lab and office space in the future. The team at Satomic is grateful for all that the Longfellow does to be a great partner. I know that Satomic always has a partner in Longfellow.

Facilities ManagerSolvias is a global provider of chemistry, manufacturing, and control (CMC) analytics to the life sciences industry. Our expert team combines decades of experience with regulatory expertise across small molecules, biologics, and cell and gene therapies.
Longfellow brought a collaborative mindset from day one, listening to our needs, helping us envision the space we required, and proactively partnering with us to keep the project moving forward. Their responsiveness and openness made them feel like an extension of our team.
Over a two-phase move-in and buildout, Longfellow played a key role to meet specific lab requirements in transforming the Discovery space into a high-functioning lab environment. Phase I involved partial demolition and reuse of existing infrastructure, while Phase II was a complete demo and rebuild. The thoughtful design and existing infrastructure as part of the Longfellow Fitted Labs programming made what was a very complicated decision and process as simple as possible.
From quick move in options like the Fitted Lab to expanding into space with a full-scale buildout, Longfellow is committed to finding the right solution for your needs. They prioritize long-term relationships and bring a thoughtful, strategic approach to every project. If you’re looking for a partner, not just a landlord, Longfellow is the one.

Debut has a strong working relationship with Longfellow, with direct contact across the company for any questions or support that’s needed. Longfellow creates a very personalized experience. Longfellow has worked very hard to understand our requirements for our laboratories. The team has proactively met those needs through their support for our rapid growth in San Diego’s SOVA Science District.
What I really appreciate about Longfellow is that they are quick to address any concern, and they are very accommodating and supportive as a partner. I trust that they will always do the right thing for us, even if it means putting our interests before their own.

Senior Director, OperationsPace San Diego develops long-acting injectable formulations, with the goal of decreasing patient dosing frequency and increasing treatment compliance. Our San Diego location at Longfellow’s SOVA Science District is in the heart of Sorrento Valley, along with a plethora of pharma and biotech companies, not to mention a high caliber talent pool.
Longfellow has always had our back, with a partnership that began several years ago, helping us secure additional lab space as we grew in 2023. During a recent project to improve our manufacturing space, Longfellow’s project manager went above and beyond to ensure that everything down to the last detail was covered – they also facilitated much of the work to be done after hours to minimize day-to-day operations impact.
As a developer, Longfellow has tons of space options, sizes, and locations for current and future partners. Along the way, Longfellow also seeks to learn and grow from these relationships that go beyond the normal transaction. Pace’s relationship with Longfellow has been wonderful, and we are looking forward to growing and working with them as our site expands.

Owner & ChefThe Craft Taco is something I dreamed of my whole life. The Craft Taco isn’t just a fancy taco, but what we specialize in, which is hospitality.
Whether it was the big picture or small details, we always wanted to be the most professional – right down to the way we treated our team and served our guests. We caught a lot of people’s attention and made meaningful connections… Longfellow Real Estate Partners was one of them.
Longfellow looks at this relationship as a partnership, and they saw that our contribution to the SOVA Science District community lies in our hospitality. We took that to heart.
Every day we get to cook for our guests: the SOVA scientific community, Longfellow itself, and our San Diego neighborhoods. At SOVA, Longfellow created a place where community members want to unwind before, during, and after work. They have built an ecosystem here, and you can tell relationships are everything to the Longfellow team.
We carry the hospitality mentality – just like Longfellow was hospitable – by bringing us into this community. Craft Taco was a dream that became a reality here.

Site Director, San Diego“Working with Longfellow Real Estate Partners is a partnership in the truest sense. We feel their team here is an extension of our BioLabs team in all the ways they’ve supported us and helped us feel welcome.
One thing I particularly love about our experience with Longfellow is that they are eager to learn exactly how we operate and what our best practices are in order to better support BioLabs and our resident companies. We love the entrepreneurial mindset they’ve brought to our partnership and the fact that they are not stuck in a certain mold.
We have the privilege to support almost 40 companies at BioLabs San Diego today, and this number will continue to grow as we expand our facility. Building out a larger permanent site at the Biovista campus shows our shared commitment to and long-term investment in biotech and life science innovation in San Diego. Being part of such a big expansion project makes our relationship with Longfellow even more vital as we work with their team on the ground to accomplish all our collective goals.”

Founder / Owner“Working with everyone from Longfellow has been fantastic. New English Brewing has been in the current location for over a decade and since the SOVA Science District campus construction started in 2020, we’ve adapted our spaces and grown along with the new life science companies that have come into the development as well.
Having a collaborative approach has proven the key to making New English Brewing a continuing asset for our life science neighbors and the people that visit us from the surrounding community, not to mention being positive for our business. With a world-class outdoor amenity space along with large and airy indoor tasting rooms, it’s supercharged our business into an after work spot that welcomes craft beer connoisseurs, neighbors and regular folks with families, kids and dogs as a place to relax, unwind and catch up with friends.
The Longfellow team are straightforward with no games or agendas and are looking for a win-win in every scenario… working with them has been a great experience and the best property owner I’ve partnered with in almost sixteen years in business.”
Chef Richard Blais
Chef & Restaurateur“Partnering with Longfellow was an easy choice because they are doing amazing work that disrupts the status quo. Allowing creatives to do their work in a space that’s comfortable, familiar, and exciting is exactly what we are doing here in San Diego. California English is a chef-driven restaurant that happens to be in an amazing biotech space at the Biovista campus.
I’m all about doing things a little bit different and better – that’s exactly what Longfellow executes on a day-to-day basis. It’s the perfect partnership, allowing both of us to harness the creative spirit.
Looking forward, we are excited to open our second stunning restaurant concept, just a mile away, one Longfellow’s newest campus, Bioterra, is complete.
These collaborative works are changing the landscape of Sorrento Mesa. It’s not just the place you drive through anymore. It’s a place you work, it’s a place you live, and it’s a place you dine and collaborate with friends, family, and colleagues.”

It has been a pleasure to work with the Longfellow team over the past few years to bring this project to life, which will change the trajectory and cityscape of Millbrae for the better.
Development projects such as this require vision, knowledge, partnership, trust, and belief – that’s exactly what this project had from day one. With the actions of the Millbrae City Council and Planning Commission, we were able to attract a world-class company like Longfellow.
Our entire City is looking forward to this partnership and the success of a development like Avia Labs will bring to Millbrae, its citizens, and our entire community. We look forward to the ribbon cutting ceremony in two years when the campus is complete.”
