Durham ID Carmichael Building

About Durham ID Carmichael Building
A former tobacco building, the Carmichael Building, is an adapted reuse project completed in 2014 and represents the transformation of Durham into a leading urban research cluster. Duke’s decision to locate cutting edge research in the Durham ID ultimately led to the growth and transformation of the district. The building provides 114,000 SF of flexible R&D space, won multiple awards for its redevelopment and achieved a LEED Silver rating. The building was a catalyst for other Duke research and innovation uses to concentrate in the Durham ID.
