Longfellow purchased 1030 Mass Ave. in 2010 and commenced redevelopment, resulting in replacement and upgrade of all base building mechanical systems in preparation for occupancy by leading biotechnology companies. The development also included buildout of speculative tenant suites resulting in more rapid occupancy for prospective tenants. Initial lease up was to a roster of leading biotechnology companies backed by venture capital firms including Third Rock Ventures, MPM Capital and Atlas Ventures. Focused project management also led to a sustainability rating of LEED Gold. Lastly, the retail suites were repositioned with the only spinning studio in Harvard Square and the latest high-end restaurant for award winning chef, Michael Scelfo. All of these elements contribute to a unique mixed use project.
